All WIC Centers have a lactation room or cubby for participants who would like a
private area in which to breastfeed.
PHFE WIC provides electric breast pumps to mothers with premature babies and
other babies in the NICU. A “breast pump designee” (WIC staff from a WIC Center)
contacts the mother on a regular basis to follow up with her regarding her
challenges and successes. PHFE WIC also operates a “Working Women Pump Program”
for mothers who work or attend school full-time.
