PHFE WIC is recognized for its valuable contributions to community-based projects and research through successful implementation of publicly and privately funded enhancements to core WIC services.
Projects include interventions focused on childhood obesity, alcohol prevention during pregnancy, early literacy, breastfeeding, interconception care and WIC data collection and analysis.
These innovative projects have been added using blended funding from local, state, federal and private foundation sources. In virtually all cases, enhanced services are added in collaboration with partners
including the March of Dimes, First 5 LA, UCLA, the California WIC Association and the State of California WIC Program. A primary goal of PHFE WIC is to go beyond the scope of
regular WIC services in order to better serve the needs of low-income families with young children.
