WIC is a nutrition education and breastfeeding promotion and support program.
WIC is an adjunct to health care and as such, collaborates with doctors,
pharmacists, medical offices, hospitals and other health professionals and
facilities to provide quality nutrition services to our participants.
As a federal program, WIC is subject to federal and state regulations. It is a
requirement that WIC gets anthropometric and hemoglobin/hematocrit data from the
medical provider for participant eligibility.
WIC does not do Medical Nutritional Therapy. WIC's role is one of support and we
have Registered Dietitians on staff who will educate WIC participants regarding
MNT they have received from their provider.
